So sorry for your loss Monk was a wonderful and kind man and will be missed. I will miss him coming up the driveway just to see how we were doing he was a friend to many. He was one of the most honest men I have ever meet in my life. God needed him and was ready for him to be in his forever home in heaven.
Our heart felt sympathy goes out to all of you during this sad time. Praying for all of you as We know Monk will truly be missed.
Monk has been a life long friend of the Marshall Hicks Family. My Dad loved him like a brother. He has helped us in so many ways. From putting in tobacco, to fixing tractors and lawn mowers. It was always a gift just to run into him and have small talk. We all will miss him. He is not gone forever, but just gone ahead. Peace and strength be with his family in the days ahead.
Gwen,
I am so sorry for your loss. I’m glad I had the opportunity to take care of Mr. Whitt while he was at Duke and help ease his pain. He was a sweet man and you were such a kind hearted person. I know it’s hard but Mr. Whitt is no longer suffering and is cancer free now!!! You and your family will be in my prayers, please let me know if I can do anything.
Kailey thank y’all so much for everything y’all did for my dad and myself
.You all went above and beyond for both of us and our family. You all have so much compassion for you all’s patients on 9300. My spirit will remain in 9307. Please continue to pray for me, I’m having a hard time. I miss him so much.
My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
I am so sorry to hear about Roy’s passing. Marty and I would call him and talk, but it was hard for him to talk so we didn’t bother him often. Roy did all of our work on mowers , tractor, chain saws , anything that we needed fixed he was always there for us. He was such a wonderful guy, he will surely be missed by all. I know he’s out of pain and in a better place now. I just want you the family to know how much we though of him, we had no idea things were this bad. Our prays are with you all. GOD Bless.
Monk was a special friend to our family. He was just always there. He and daddy acted like brothers. Daddy tried to fix something broken and then after awhile he would just call Monk and he would say, I’m on the way Travis. He fixed so much stuff at our house. I think daddy just stopped trying to fix things and would just call Monk to do it. Monk could fix anything. To the family, I am so sorry, I just found out about Monk about 30 minutes ago or I would have been there. I love you all. Cherish your memories cause y’all sure do have a lot of good ones. He will definitely be missed by so very many family and friends. Especially by the Hicks families.
Monk worked at American Tobacco in Durham. until they closed in 1977. I worked in the office running computers. I knew Monk thru my wife’s family. the Adcock’s. Monk and i were friends. After I went to Richmond with American I would see Roy from time to time around town. He was a gentleman and a good-hearted person. Goodby Monk.
Dear family,
I am saddened by the grief that you are feeling.
Knowing of God’s embracing love for you, continue looking to him when ” He will wipe all tears from our eyes, death, pain, and suffering will be no more. ” – Revelation 21:3,4
He says death is an ” enemy that will be brought to nothing. ” – 1 Corinthians 15:26
It comforts our hearts to know this pain will be a thing of the past and through Christ a resurrection for our loved ones.
