Joyce Coleman Arrington Dixon

Joyce Coleman Arrington Dixon, 84, of Oxford passed away Wednesday, September 28,2022 at Duke Regional Hospital.

Joyce was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on January 21, 1938 to the late Patrick Coleman Arrington and Edna Earl Jackson.

She was a member of West Oxford Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eakes Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford officiated by Reverend Bruce Beck. Burial will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park in Oxford.

Joyce is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, William Lucius Dixon Jr; one daughter, Paula Dixon Wilder (Johnny); three sons, Glenn Patrick Brame (Tamara), William L. Dixon III (Stephanie), Benjamin Scott Dixon (Robert); four grandchildren, Garrison Dallas (Milton), Julie Brame (Martin), Trevor Dixon and Jordyn Whitfield; four sisters, Jackie Brummitt, Patsy Mitchell (Robert), Joan Mustian (Vernon) and Jean Reavis (Bev) and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorene Mustian and Anne Kingan.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and other times at the home.

    Joyce was my sweet sister. She was very special to us. She had a good sense of humor, soft hearted, and was an encourager.

    I remember a story told about her when she was around four years of age. When our Mother would make her oatmeal for breakfast, Joyce would stand there stomping her foot saying “oatmeal ,oatmeal, sugar in it, sugar in it, stir it up, stir it up”. I can see her now doing that.

    She had a great voice, and in her younger days could reach high C. She also played the piano and used to go to the nursing home and play for the residents. She was loved by many.

    Glenn. Joan and Vernon so sorry to read this . It is Thursday October 13 and my wife just pulled this up. I am so sorry, I would loved to have attended the funeral and spend some time with you all. You all are in our prayers.
