Joanne Briggs Clark

Joanne Briggs Clark, 78, of Rougemont NC, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Howell Briggs and Isabel Ford Briggs.

She was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Easter Star.

A funeral service will be held Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Conducted by the Rev. Tim Atkinson and Rev. William Wheeler Jr. Burial will take place in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Thomas Boyd Clark; two daughters, Susan Clark Langdon (Charles) and Mary Jo Clark; one grandson, Thomas Brent Evans; two grand puppies, Sadie Mae Langdon and Dutchess Mae Clark; and many nieces, nephews and extended loved ones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Briggs Cox; one brother, Howell Thomas Briggs; father in-law, Walter Boyd Clark; mother in-law, Mary Fannie Clark; and her step mother in-law, Marie Adcock Clark.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford. At other times they will be at the home of Charles and Susan Clark Langdon.

    I am so sorry to hear that Joanne has passed. I remember Joanne as a lovely person with a great sense of humor. I hope many good memories will give you some comfort in this sad time and going forward.

    Boyd, Susan, Mary Jo and the entire family. We are heartbroken with Joanne’s passing. She was one of the sweetest, kind and loving individuals we were honored know.     Agnes and Alvin (Hobgood) — We are so sorry for you lost, Boyd. We never saw Joanne enough. She was always in great Spirits every time we saw and talked with her. She always showed her love for us. We will miss her and seeing her at the Reunions or whatever reason we got together. Our love to you, Boyd and all your family.
