Rev. David Kendall Richardson Jr.

Rev. David Kendall Richardson Jr., passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. He was the senior pastor of Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church in Kittrell, NC since September of 2020, following serving as Associate Pastor and Church Administrator at First Baptist Church Creedmoor from March 2008-June 2019. Among other various roles, he was currently serving on the Committee on Conventions Meetings for the Baptist State Convention of NC. He was also currently serving as Treasurer in the Flat River Baptist Association after serving in several other roles. He served in ministry at Concord Baptist Church in Creedmoor from 2001 to 2007. He served in volunteer roles for organizations such as the Town of Stem Planning Board, Emergency Food & Shelter Program, 320 Ministries and Girl Scouts of NC. David served as Chairman of the Board of Education for Granville County Public Schools since 2016, was an employee of Vision NC since March of 2007 and an employee of Lightning McClean Car Washes since 2019. Managing the renovation of the Candle of Love building and children’s area, obtaining grants through United Way for the Food Mission and Backpack Buddies programs as well as directing the Upward League at First Baptist Church Creedmoor are among his many areas of accomplishment. He also served as Executive Director and Chair of the Board of Damascus Home from 2008 to 2012.

David graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA with a Bachelor’s in Religion and Minor in Christian Ministry in 2012. He graduated with a Masters in Christian Ministry in 2013 from Liberty University as well. He was ordained by FBC Creedmoor on March 7, 2010.

He is survived by Becky Weaver Richardson, his wife of eighteen years; a goddaughter, Cadence Layne Cook. He is also survived by his mother, Jenny Gibson; brothers Chris Griffin and Nicholas Avancini (Heather); a sister, Leandra Avancini.

David’s desire was for the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be shared and known to all. He loved to read, listen to music and spend time with his friends and family.

A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. officiated by Reverend David Herman, Dr. Frankie L. McLean and Pastor KJ Ellington. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. A private internment will follow the service. It will be live streamed on the Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church Facebook page. The family will have a private interment to follow and will continue receiving friends at their home on Saturday and Sunday.

    Becky, My heart is forever broken. I have always considered David my son. His heart was full of love for everyone from main St. Creedmoor to the many places we traveled on mission trips…especially our beloved Haiti. He loved you so much and on each call he made to me each week that was his pleasure to tell me about you and what you were doing . He was truly everyone’s Pastor. I am so sorry and love you dearly. Hope
