Emma Thompson Pope
Our loving mother, Emma Thompson Pope, 99, of Raleigh passed away Monday, July 25, 2022 at Duke University Hospital.
Mother was born on January 13,1923 in Warren County to the late Dinks Thompson and Mary Faulkner. Mother graduated valedictorian from Wilton High School and retired from Murdoch Developmental Center with an associates degree in Pharmacology.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor officiated by Dr. Curtis Dupree. Burial will follow in the Brassfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Mother’s happy place was digging, planting and chopping in her yard.
Mother leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Joan Cash Carden (Buddy) and Judy Cash Porterfield (J.C.); three grandchildren, Brandon Wilson (Kandi), Jacob Porterfield (Misty) and Jay Porterfield (Jessica); eight great-grandchildren, Shane Wilson, Tristan Porterfield, Aiden Wilson, Dillon Wilson, Cody Cash, Coleton Cash, Lilli Porterfield and Cash Porterfield; one sister, Mary T. Hockaday; one brother, Roy Patterson and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mother was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Edwin Cash; her second husband, Willie E. “W.E.” Pope; one son, Billy Gene Cash, two grandchildren, Charles Edwin Cash and Patrick Gene Cash; one sister, Beatrice “Sissy” Clements and five brothers, Joseph Thompson, Pryor Thompson, C.W. Thompson, Wayne Thompson and Troy Patterson.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor.
