Mike wore many hats in his life, but the most important ones were to tend to his family and his loved ones. He taught school for thirty-seven years and loved every day of it. He loved his students, all of them, red and yellow, black and white they were precious in his sight. Through his many years of teaching, he became like a father figure and established a lifelong bond with many of his students.

Additionally, Mike was a long time member of the Oxford Lions Club.

His hobbies, besides his grandchildren, were his garden, fishing, bird hunting and dogs.

As noted, Mike was the chairman of the county commission during our hazardous waste incinerator fight back in 1990. He was the perfect man to have in his position. He was cool, calm and thought through the many pressured events of that time and always chose right and for the People. Many others in such a situation would have easily capitulated to big money and influence. He was a real fighter and we were lucky to have him. RIP Mike Warren.

Attorney John Pike introduces Mike Warren at the Dedication and Stakeholder Dinner of the GAP on May, 21, 2004. His comments and Mikes remarks start at 16:50 into the program.

I am sincerely saddened to learn of Mike’s passing. I enjoyed being on the faculty of Webb High School. Even though I was in the English department, I got to know Mike fairly well. He was friendly and jovial, with an ever present smile. I remember having a workshop with him at the County Office, where he had us all laughing. He was an excellent teacher, loved by his students and respected by his colleagues. May God bless and comfort you all.

Mr. Warren was my teacher back in 2007. I use to cut his grass at his house. I joined the military in 2007 and lost contact with him. I last seen him in 2011 when I came over to his house for a visit when I returned from the military. I can’t believe he’s gone. A great teacher and and wonderful person. The world is a much better place with all the laughter and wisdom that he shared with everyone throughout the years. I am glad that I knew him and I will always remember him!!
