Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One
Carpenter (1)

Timothy Elwood Carpenter

It is with great sadness that the family of Timothy Elwood Carpenter (Tim) announce his passing on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the age of 75.

Tim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Ruby Nell Carpenter, and their children, Amy (Chris) Wiley, Christy (Daniel) Light, Dana (Matt) Paradis, and Ryan (Chelsie) Carpenter. He was the proud “Papa” to his grandchildren, Brody, Caroline, Bella, James, Brinna, Rowan, Emi, and Caelynn. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Shelton and Hilda Carpenter. He was the brother of Kirby (Linda) Carpenter, Lynn (Jane) Carpenter, and Phyllis Pair; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Tim spent 30 years of service at Northern Telecom as a supervisor and a manager. Once he left there he finished his working career delivering parts for Walker Auto Parts.

His greatest gift, though, was in his discipleship and the many friends and family who loved Jesus beside him. Tims’ family will miss his loving presence in their lives but rejoice in knowing he is in peace and resting as the good and faithful servant he was.

Tim lived life true to the saying he always spoke in Sunday School, “No matter what, It’s all about Jesus!”

To know him was to be loved by him. He had a love for Tar Heel football and basketball, but think he enjoyed talking junk to Duke and NC State fans more. He loved his dogs like they were his own children. He loved to make people laugh and didn’t know a stranger. Tim loved to serve other people and let them know they were cared about.

Please join the family in celebrating his life on Friday, March 4, 2022 for visitation at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church from 6:00pm-8:00pm. His funeral service will be Sunday March 6, 2022 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 2:00pm officiated by Reverend David Herman and Tim’s son-in-law, Matt Paradis. Following the service everyone is invited to join us at Carolina Memorial Gardens for the grave side.

The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (theaftd.org) or the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Singles/Singles Again Sunday School Class.

The family wishes to send a special “thank you” to the wonderful nurses at the Duke Regional Hospital for their compassionate care.

Philippians 1:21
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

Dear Ruby Nell & family, Tim was loved by everyone who knew him & will certainly be missed. He always had a kind word to say because he had a kind heart. He was a friend to everyone & treated people with respect. Tim loved his Lord & Savior, his family & friends, his church family and the UNC Tarheels. No more pain, no more suffering. Ruby Nell and Family
I can hear Tim say, what’s love got to do with it and laugh. We were so grateful to have him for so many years as our Sunday School teacher until he finally had to give it up due to his health. His love and faith for God was prevalent in his life. He loved his family and all the grandchildren. Now Tim is in heaven singing in that heavenly choir. He enriched my life is so many ways and I am going to miss his laughing smile. God has gained another faithful servant and is being glorified for his life here on earth. God Bless each and everyone of you.

I could be on here a good while with all the thoughts; stories and memories of Tim from the tobacco fields to the church.

Tim truly made a difference in my life and the lives of others.

Ruby Nell, I just heard about Tim’s homegoing and my heart aches for you. While we will miss him here on this earth, I rejoice in the knowledge that he is dancing in heaven with Jesus and praising Him all the day long. He was a wonderful person, always had a kind word to say, and was truly a man after God’s own heart.
