Betty Aiken Norwood

Betty Aiken Norwood, 86, a resident of Creedmoor, passed away Friday, January 28,2022 at Duke Regional Hospital.

Betty was born in Wake County on July 1,1935 to the late Melvin Aiken and Lizzie Keith Aiken. She graduated from Creedmoor High School and worked in Raleigh until she married her late husband, Edwin, in 1957. He was in the United States Air Force and they lived in many places as an Air Force family. Betty traveled with him to Spain and Japan before he retired from the Air Force with 22 years of service. Betty was beloved mother, grandmother and a dedicated wife.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor officiated by pastor Tommy Lamm.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Eddie Norwood (Sarah) of Henderson, NC, David Norwood (Becky) of Creedmoor, NC and Barry Norwood (Melody) of Creedmoor, NC; three grandchildren, Megan, Adam and Bradley; one great-grandchild, Halo; two sisters, Patty Neal of Durham and Mary Nell Whitman of Greencastle, Indiana and a brother, Jimmy Aiken of Bryant, Alabama. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Flinton, Worth and Norris Aiken; two sisters, Annie Bell Clark and Goldie Mae Collins.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 31,2022 from 12:30 – 1:45 PM at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor.

Pallbearers for the funeral service will be Ronnie Aiken, Donnie Aiken, Mike Aiken, Skip Norwood, Rodney Norwood and Adam Norwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church in Creedmoor.

    Aunt Betty was beautiful woman inside and out, loved our talks and visits. See is truly celebrating in Heaven with Uncle Ed and in no more pain.     I would always look forward to visiting in the summer! Betty would always do my hair for me. Made me feel like the most beautiful in the world! But she was the beautiful one- in spirit and person! She is with Ed now and a new Norwood reunion is happening on a heavenly level. Rest In Peace sweet lady! Love always!! ❤️❤️
