Della Mae Williams


Della Mae Williams, 91, a lifetime resident of Granville County passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at her home.

She was born October 17, 1929 in Granville County to the late Pender Oakley and Mittie Taylor Oakley. She was a member of Tally Ho Baptist Church and retired from ARC in Butner.

Private graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 18, 2021 at South Granville Memorial Gardens in Stem by Dr. James Banks.

Surviving are her son, Edwin Williams (Donna) of Bahama; a brother, Elvin Oakley of Stem; three grandchildren, Jennifer Williams Jordan, Cory Williams, Christie Truitt; seven great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Nelson “Doc” Williams; a sisters, Janie Oakley and brothers JW, Lemond and Roy Oakley.

The family would like to give special thanks to her nephew Deputy Kendal Mangum for all of his love and support.

    So sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I knew your dad in the Lord Granville Agricultural Heritage Association (tractor club). He was a real man of honor.

    I am so sorry to hear of Della’s passing. I grew up across the road from her and she was always a good friend and neighbor. I will miss her.

    My condolences to you and your family. I have fond memories of Doc and Della over my childhood and adult years. I got to see Della when she visited my mom.
