Nancy Thurman Greene


Nancy Thurman Greene, 76, of Stem passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at her home.

Nancy was born in Durham County to the late William Keith Thurman and Katherine Gibbs. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was a teacher assistant at Butner Stem Elementary School for many years.

Funeral Services will be private.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband William Sidney Greene; a son, Joel Thurman Gooch (Darlene) of Stem; a daughter, Beth Gooch Askew (Dean) of Oxford; two grandchildren, Seth Askew and Morgan Askew and a sister, Kathy Thurman Henries (Etles) of Aurora.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Granville County Senior Center.

    Beth , my dear friend my heart is breaking for you and the family at this time of grief. There was only one Nancy! She was the most kind, friendly, fun loving person I will ever know. She loved her family and everyone loved her. It makes me think of Keith she was so much like him. I can just see her in Heaven with God smiling, laughing and telling him let everyone I am fine now and I will see all of them again when the time comes. Beth I love you and all the family.     I can not say I’m sorry enough for your loss. Nancy was a blessing. She blessed me with tons of childhood memories with granny and Poppy (Keith). I can still hear that contagious laugh in my head when I think of her. If ya’ll need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out. Love you all.

    Sweet Nancy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a special person and always had a smile on her face. She loved my mama and mama loved her.
