Thomas Lenward Averette “Punk” Averette

Thomas Lenward “Punk” Averette, 81, a lifetime resident of Granville County passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at Duke Medical Center.

He was born May 31, 1940 in Granville County to the late Russell Averette and Lille Lee Longmire Averette. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and retired from the Department of Transportation with thirty years of service. Punk loved gardening, farming and visiting with friends and family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Creedmoor by Rev. David Herman. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-nine years, Ann Cash Averette of the home; two sisters, Sarah Belle Mangum, Carolyn Overton, a brother, Wille E. “Pete” Averette; nephews, Tommy, Averette, Jerome Averette, Earl Mangum, David Mangum and Michael Cash.

He was preceded in death by two nephews, Willie and Victor Averette.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 – 2:45 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
