Geraldine House Johnson

 

Geraldine House Johnson, 86, formerly of Oxford, NC, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in Falls Church, VA with family at her side.

Daughter of the late Theodore House and Sara Barnhill House, Gerry was born and raised in Halifax County, NC. She lived most of her life in Oxford, NC. Gerry was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a talented artist. She taught ceramics at the Vance-Granville Community College for nearly 20 years. She loved teaching her students how to make something nice out of clay. Her passions were painting, reading, gardening, and doing puzzles. Gerry loved a good joke.

A private visitation will be held on April 17, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. graveside service at Meadowview Cemetery in Oxford, NC. You may access the graveside service by clicking on the following link:

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne F. Johnson, Sr, two sons; Wayne F. Johnson, Jr and Patrick E. Johnson; and her brother John House.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Eddie Johnson (Marjorie) of Otto, NC, and Al Johnson (Mary Ann) of Falls Church, VA; and daughter-in-law, Sue Johnson of Tampa, FL; her sister, Sarah H. Whitehead (Bob) of Henrico, NC; five grandchildren: Stephen Johnson, Amanda Rhodes (Shannon), Heather Johnson, JJ Johnson, and Sarah Johnson; and five great-grandchildren.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Eakes Funeral Home will be following social distancing guidelines and ask that all in attendance wear a mask or appropriate face covering.
