James “Taylor” Hutson


James “Taylor” Hutson, 77, born September, 29, 1943 in Granville County, NC to the late James “Cephas” and Rosa Pearl “Junnie” Hutson went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at home surrounded by family.

Taylor worked at Harriet & Henderson Yarns for 37 years until they closed their doors, then retired from Goldston’s Building Supply. He was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church in Oxford NC. He farmed his entire life and his family’s cubbards were always full of fresh garden vegetables.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jean Hutson; a son, James (Terry) Hutson; three step-daughters, Peggy (John) Schmidt of Cullen, VA, Kathy (Mark) Compton of Oxford, NC, Shirley (Allen) Loftis of Bullock, NC; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Maryleigh Boyd of Oxford, NC, and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter Deborah Lynn Dowden, and his brother Curtis Wayne Hutson.

The family will have a graveside Celebration of Life on Friday, March 26th @ 2pm at Grassy Creek Baptist Church by Reverend Cecil Newton. You may access the Celebration of Life by clicking on the following link:
