




Mary Ella Thaxton Roberts
Mary Ella Thaxton Roberts, 95, of Granville County passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at her home.
Mary was born in Granville County to the late William Merritt Thaxton and Beulah Haithcock. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Community Gardens Cemetery in Stem by Reverend David Herman. You may access the graveside service by clicking on the following link:

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Patricia Hixson of Creedmoor; a son, David Roberts of Oxford; a sister, Sue Thaxton Woodlief of Durham; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Roberts; a granddaughter Gina Hixson; two children, Owen Roberts and Larry Roberts; three brothers, Ralph Thaxton, Thomas Thaxton and Dan Thaxton and her precious daughter-in-law Carol Roberts.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Granville County Animal Shelter at 5650 Cornwall Rd. Oxford, NC 27565.
Eakes Funeral Home will be following social distancing guidelines and ask that all in attendance wear a mask or appropriate face covering.

David, Patricia and the entire family, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Mary Ella. I have many fond memories of her and will miss her so much. She was such a special person and she loved all of her Tar River Girls” as she referred to us! I know she is pain free and is celebrating with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She loved

Aunt Mary Ella was a “Steel Magnolia.” Such a strong person, but so sweet. I will miss her terribly and it will hurt the 1st Christmas I come in with Steve knowing she won’t be there but I smile to think of her and Uncle Ted reunited alongside Owen, Carol, Larry and other members of the family. Patricia, so sorry to hear about Mary Ella. She was such a sweet and beautiful women. You and all your family are in my prayers. Watched the service today and it was beautiful. He did a great job in letting everyone just what a wonderful Mom and friend she was to everyone. Love you and may God bring you peace and comfort in the days to come.
