
Eugene Beverly Blackwell
Eugene Beverly Blackwell, 73, of Granville County passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020 at his home.
Eugene was born in Granville County to the late David Richard Blackwell and Pearl Gresham Blackwell. He was a member of Mt. Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee. Eugene was raised on a farm in Granville County and graduated from J.F. Webb High School in 1965. After high school he attended N.C. State’s Agricultural Institute in 1967 and worked as a dairy farmer all of his life. Eugene was honored as the Marvin E. Senger Distinguished Dairyman of the Year at the 60th Annual North Carolina Dairyman’s Conference. He served as a board member for Dairymen Inc. and later for Mid America Dairymen Association. He was well known for his leadership in promoting dairy products and the dairy industry. Eugene has been on the board of the American Dairy Association (ADA) of North Carolina for over 28 years and also served as the president. He has also been on the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association (SUDIA) for over 20 years. Eugene also served as a board member for United Dairy Industry Association (UDIA) and Dairy Management Inc. (DMI). Eugene was a member and past-president of the Granville County Wildlife Club. He was also a member of Cornwall Volunteer Fire Department for over 35 years where he served as chief for 5 years and also served as Lieutenant, Captain and President. Eugene was also a long term board member of Granville County Farm Bureau.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Dairy, 8136 Dick Blackwell Rd., Oxford, NC 27565. Burial will follow at the Mt. Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. You may access the funeral service by clicking on the following link:

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years, Joy Lee Hart Blackwell; one daughter, Jeana Testerman (Brad); three sons, Richard Blackwell (Shelia), Terry Blackwell (Angie) and Jerry Blackwell (Gina); seven grandchildren, Kelly Grainger (Jeremy), Katie Testerman, Kurt Testerman, Kyle Testerman, Landon Blackwell, Trey Blackwell, and Noah Blackwell; one great-granchild, Jeremy Grainger Jr. and two sisters, Delores Owens and Joyce Cifers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 25 2020 at Hillcrest Dairy, 8136 Dick Blackwell Rd., Oxford, NC 27565 from 1:00-2:00 PM.

A fine man in every way. This ole world would be much better off were there more men like him.
He certainly will be missed in the Moutain Creek community.

Mr Eugene was a fine man. I will always remember him orchestrating & bringing his family all those years to the Sudia Dairy Night ballgames @ Charlotte Knights Stadium thise were some good times. He had a servants heart and i qm thankful for our friendship.
