Perry Lawrence “Rabbit” Moon


Perry Lawrence “Rabbit” Moon, 73, of Granville County passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his home.

“Rabbit” was born in Brunswick County to the late Willie Lawrence “Dick” Moon and Gordie Virginia Canfield. He enlisted in the army in 1967 and served in the Vietnam War. He was a mechanic at Athol Manufacturing and a plumber at Lloyd’s Plumbing for many years before retiring.

A graveside service will be held Friday, November 6, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Meadowview Memorial Park officiated by Pastor Felix Futrell. You may access the graveside service by clicking on the following link:

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years, Mary Deal Moon of the home; a daughter, Sherry Lynn Moon of Oxford, a son, Terry Lawrence Moon (Christina) of Oxford; three grandsons and two granddaughters; four sisters, Carolyn Moon Talley (William) of Oxford, Barbara Moon Satterwhite (Ricky) of Oxford, Benita Moon Mullikin (Bill) of Lawton, OK and Ruby Moon Royster (Larry) of Oxford. He was preceded in death by brother, Henry Lewis Moon.

Visitation will follow the graveside service at Meadowview Memorial Park.

Eakes Funeral Home will be following social distancing guidelines and ask that all in attendance please wear a mask.

    So sorry for your loss! He was a great man and raised an amazing son. He was so kind to me and I will always remember him fondly. Big hugs for all the loved ones he left behind. What a day glorious day it will be when we all see him again in Heaven.

    I knew Perry as a kid, when we attended John Nichols School (Oxford Orphanage) He was always a quiet & kind person, with that “one of a kind” smile. I know he will be missed by many, and prayers for all his family members during this time of sadness. Also, thank yo Perry for your military service!! RIP.
