























Dorothy Jones Hicks
Dorothy Jones Hicks, 68, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at her home.
A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred David Jones and Barbara Boyd. She was a member of Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church and she retired from Altec Industries after thirty years of service.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery by Chaplin Amanda Hayes.
Surviving are four stepchildren, William Richard Hicks Jr. of Norlina, Richard Thomas Hicks of Winterville, Al Hicks of Oxford, Jamie Hicks Singletary of Durham; a grandson, Joseph Boyd of Durham, and a sister Alice Crowder (Jimmy) of Oxford; a nephew Patrick Crowder of Oxford; two nieces, Amanda Reese and Jennifer Crowder; a great-niece, Hailey Crowder and two great-nephews, Brandon Tyler Crowder and David Reese Crowder; and her beloved aunt and uncle, Roy and Joyce Wilkins. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Heath and a nephew Brandon Gregory Crowder and recently her late husband, William Richard Hicks.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.

Dot was my classmate from Class of 69. She and Jerry were good friends. We worked together and had a circle of good friends at Altec. I was so happy when she and Richard got married. She will be missed. Prayers for the family.

Dot you were always telling me about our family history and always making me laugh. You were very a matter of fact but had so much love for your family. I know heaven and your loved ones are embracing you! You will be missed here on earth. Till we see each other again!

Dot, thank you for being the best sister-in-law I could have ever asked for! ! And a even better friend, who always (until your dying day ) gave the best advice weather it be wanted or in wanted! ! I always enjoyed our walking together! ! Weather for exercise or cancer!! Thank you for being a wonderful person! ! I know that you are in heaven smiling down while you walk with those before you! ! Dot just like Richard was so very kind and welcoming to my wife and I when we moved to Oxford. They will always be in our hearts. We will miss them greatly.
