We are just devastated for your loss. David was his own person and that is such a truly rare quality. Joseph said “No one didn’t like David. There was no reason not to like him. He was that kind of guy”. Our prayers are going up for you both and all of your family. ❤️

Thomas and Marie, I am so very sorry and heartbroken for you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
My heart aches for David’s parents and for their loss. My thoughts and prayers are with David’s family and friends during this difficult time. I only met David in the fall of 2019 when I started working on the same job site as him. He was such a pleasure to work with and such a well spoken young man. He will be missed by so many.
I want to share a small conversation that I had with him after Christmas. I saw he had a nice new Branch Civil Carhartt coat. I told him that I like your new coat! He said thanks, my Grandma bought it for me for Christmas! He was smiling from ear to ear when he said that. I’m definitely going to miss our small conversations like that and just saying good morning to him, because he was always smiling. Rest easy David, I’m going to miss you around here.
My heartfelt prayers to the family
My heart is breaking for you all! David is a Fine,Smart young man. I have fond memories of talking with him, especially about riding motorcycles and ATV’s and going to Va Tech. We are praying for God’s comfort and peace as only HE can give. I hope that we can talk soon after this health concern is over.
So sorry for your loss; My God be with your family.
David will be greatly missed at Branch Civil. He always had a smile for you when he came thru the door of the office . He was a great kid who had dreams for the future. We would talk about our country living and that his grandmother would sell at the flea market in Hillsville VA , my hometown.
He loved his family and especially beamed when he would speak of the love of his life , Emily. Being the mom of kids his age, he would tell me I was his ” Work Mom” and I felt like he was one of my own.
He was an easy going kid who always wanted to make people happy. You will be missed DAVID !
My prayers go out to his parents, family and Emily ! We are here at Branch Civil if you ever need us.
Yvonne, thank you so much for your kind words about David. Emily loved him so very much and is so thankful for the love David gave her. We know you all are hurting at Branch, he always talked about how much he loved his job and coworkers. I have shared your message with Emily and it brought a huge smile to her face! Amy Fitch (Emily’s mom)
David was definitely the most kind, most down to earth young man I had ever met.
He truly loved Emily and you could tell in the way he spoke of her.
I do have to tell a funny showing how funny David was. It was a week before Valentines day and we were all talking about any plans, he then shows us the funny card he was making for Emily. I told him that Emily is going to be upset and all he could say was ” she expects this type of humor from me” that shows the type of love they had. He could make us laugh.
Emily-know that you were his world, his true love.
We love that story! That exact card is sitting out now and we have laughed so many times over that one and several others he made over the years! Thank you for sharing this with us!
To the Huff family,
Our deepest sympathy to all of David’s family. David was always such a sweet quiet presence at church whenever you saw him. You are in our prayers for God’s peace and comfort during this difficult time.
Many prayers for the family!!
Thomas and Marie, Tommy and Barbara, and all of the Huff family,

I am a mix of disbelief and unspeakable sadness. My thoughts and prayers are lifted for you and your family, Marie. David was such a beautiful soul- reserved and respectful, honorable and kind. I hope it will bring you some inkling of comfort in the coming days to know that we all saw how truly special your son was and how deeply he was loved. May our God, who alone knows your pain- surround you, strengthen you, and comfort you.
My thoughts and prayers to you and the family!!! David was always very thoughtful and respectable.
To the Extended Huff Family,

Tommy and Marie I am truly saddened to hear about David, you two are in my thoughts and prayers
Marie and Tommy, I am so terribly sorry and heartbroken to hear the news of David‘s passing. Marie, I always enjoyed hearing about David’s progress at Virginia Tech and know how proud of him you are, how loved he is by his parents, and how central he is to your family. My deepest sympathies and prayers for you both and David’s extended family and community. We’re with you now more than ever. May grace, love, and leave wrap around you and your family.
Marie – thinking of and praying for you, Tommy and your whole family! When I heard about David’s passing, I immediately thought of the time I got to meet him briefly at Costco. Y’all were buying seafood (crabs I think?) for a holiday celebration – your family’s love for each other was evident even in that brief meeting. Sending long distances hugs!
I am so very much for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
Marie, this is such an inadequate but heartfelt expression of love and support for you and your family. Please know how deeply saddened we all are for you all. From our conversations it was very clear how fantastic a young man David had become, and how dearly loved he was by not only you and your family but so many others in his world. I so wish I could hug and console you a bit — but know that you are not alone, and that your FPG family really is a family for you all in every regard. Let us support and care for you as you need and want. In prayer and ongoing thoughts we’ll have you …… Robin
Tommy an Marie, it floored me when I got the news of David’s passing. I guess you just don’t expect someone so young and vibrant to be taken so early. Our hearts go out to you both and family. There are no words. Stay strong, we’re praying for you.
Marie and Tommy, please know that although I am several thousand miles away, my heart is with you right now. I have shed a lot of tears thinking about David and your family. This is the greatest hardship than any parent would have to endure, so I just urge you to stay strong. I first met David in 2006 I believe, at FPG, and came to appreciate him over the years as a polite, talented, respectful, conscientious person, and a good son. His art on the wall outside your office was/is a clear reflection of his early talent, and making his way through high school and a rigorous program at Virginia Tech just further displayed dedication and use of those talents. Although his choice in basketball teams was a little questionable, he tolerated well being around all those Tar Heels when he came to the office. As Kara and Jessica indicate, our FPG Autism group, and in fact all of FPG, mourns your loss. Please know that we love you and wish you the best. Sam
Dear Marie and Tommy – I just want to send my deepest sympathy to you and all of your family on the loss of David. I remember our conversations about your son, your pride in him and, of course, your deep love. I, too, wish I could hug you but know that the FPG family loves you and wishes you peace.
Mary and Tommy – please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you continuously. Please know we love you both and are here for you!
Tommy & Marie, my heart is broken for you. I’m sending my love, my hugs & many prayers for your peace & comfort during this time that none of us understand. There’s few words of comfort right now but I do know that you are both loved by many people and you can & should lean on those that love you. You will be in my prayers always.
Dearest Marie, I am really heartbroken and sorry for your loss. Am keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers, and sending you many hugs across the miles.
Dear Marie,
I was truly heart broken to learn of David’s passing. I loved hearing about his activities, progress, and growth from a child and teenager to becoming a talented, creative, and giving young man. I was also so impressed with his engineering activities, and loved how his art brought a feeling of youth and family to FPG. I feel fortunate to have met him, and am sending you and your family all the hugs possible.
Tommy,Marie and Emily,
Our hearts are truly saddened with this news. David was the kindest; mild mannered and a true gentleman if we ever met one and that’s the way we will remember him. In the coming days, may God give you comfort and wrap his loving arms around you to give you comfort and peace.
Hi Marie, I can’t count the number of times I stood in your office to hear about David; his studies, his graduation, your church, Emily. Even though I never met him, I got to know him through you! We were so shocked to hear the news and can not imagine what you are experiencing. Please know how very much we care about you and are sending all the love we can. We pray that you will feel comfort in knowing that David left a legacy in the work he did, the lives he touched and the love he gave. May you have Peace……….Betsy

Know that many caring thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of sorrow.
It is difficult to put into words how heartbroken I was to hear the news earlier this week. During the time that David worked for me and in the engineering group at Duke, I got to know him quite well. He was a very smart, kind, and down to earth individual. Many of his qualities, both at work and as a person, were a product of the loving and supportive environment that surrounded him within his family and his church. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing him, throughout the time we spent together and through the many conversations with Tommy over the last few years, grow into the young man that he had become. He had so much more to offer to this world and will be sorely missed. Please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me for anything in this time of need or anytime in the future.
Tommy & Marie and all of your family. I am thinking of you with heartfelt sadness.
Marie and family,
I am so sorry for your whole family’s loss, and the loss for David’s friends and colleagues as well. It sounds like he was an amazing guy. Please know that I and so many of your friends here at FPG are holding you and your whole family in light. Praying for peace for you all.

Mr. and Mrs. Huff, Our deepest sympathies for your lost.i had an opportunity to work with David at Fred Ex project for several months and haven’t seen a young man who anticipated to help everyone who asked him for help. I have never heard he said NO during I worked with him.

My deepest sympathies to your entire family during this very sad time.
Our family send prayers for your hearts. We were blessed to know David and watch him grow up to be a fine man. We are so proud of his success and accomplishments. May our Lord continue to guide you through and be there with open arms when we gather again. Sending our continual love and support always.

Dear Tommy and Marie,
The disbelief of learning of David’s passing has turned to heartbreak. Anyone who knows you, knows David was your world. You raised him to be kind, thoughtful, and polite; you invested in and made sacrifices to provide him with the best education; you taught him the value of family and faith; and most importantly, you all enjoyed spending time together. No wonder he became such a wonderful young man! Please accept my sincere condolences.
